Easy healthy smoothies for weight loss. As we all might be aware of, loosing weight is not an easy quick fix kind of thing. It takes dedication and perseverance for all I know. Having said that though, through my own experience of loosing weight ‘lifestyle change’ was one of the key aspects that helped maintain a healthy weight and stay off it for the last five years. I know when I say “change” people freak out. It took me at least a year eating well combined with exercise to reach by goal.

But as they say if you are not ready for change then you are not ready to win period! In my early days of wanting to shade off the weight smoothies were the first point of call for me. I wanted to test what all the fuss was about with smoothies and loosing weight. And let me clearly say that there is definitely no one fits all kind of thing, Everyone is different but I know one thing for sure perseverance and dedication is the answer for all of us.

When I say lifestyle change, this has to be a deliberate choice not forced of course if you are not ready, you are not ready right!. My lifestyle change came in different ways for many reasons, In 2013 my marriage ended. It was a difficult time for everyone. But I refused to be sucked in by my circumstances so I decided to eat well and change my lifestyle in order to overcome the sadness I was going through. That was my turning point.

I changed the way I thought about food for instance that we have to eat a heavy meal for dinner, or maybe eat certain meals for breakfast, or maybe Friday is takeaway day or I have to eat meat with every meal, or my traditional meals are inferior or I have to eat what my friends eat. It was like finding a new me. It made a huge difference in the way I looked at food and consumed it. Now and again I do intermittent fasting which works marvellous for me to maintain a healthy balanced lifestyle.

So to cut the long story short my smoothie journey never disappointed me. It does not have to be a special recipe. Throw in whatever you have, if you have a lot of ingredients that is fine too, and you will still enjoy the benefits nutritious smoothies. I now literally have smoothies anytime of the day. Oh one more important thing I found with smoothies in the beginning was that it helped reduce the size of by tummy and therefore it was like an automatic portion controller for me. Who would not love that!! Portion control was by worst nightmare!!

Smoothies makes it easier for the body to digest and absorb nutrients. Here is a few of my favourite. I use nut milk or coconut milk. The best is to use water

.strawbery bananasmoothie topped wth blue berries

Strawberry Banana Smoothie

  • 6-8 strawberries
  • 1 small/medium banana
  • 2 tablespoons Chia seeds
  • 1/1/2 cup almond/coconut milk/water
  • 2 tablespoons of raw oats
  • a handful of blue berries

  • 2 cups of kale/spinach
  • 1/2 avocado (medium size)
  • handful of almonds (8-10 nuts)
  • 1 cup Almond/coconut milk/water
  • 1 medium size peach or apple

This one of by favourite all time chocolate smoothie

banana and cacao

  • 1/4 cup cacao nibs/powder
  • 1 banana
  • handful cashew nuts (8-10)
  • handful kale/spinach
  • 2 tablespoons of oats
  • handful of blue berries
  • 2 Cups Almond/coconut milk/Water

I tend to add oats and kale in most of by smoothies for added nutrition and energy. Also, if you are new to smoothies you brain will possibly not register this as a meal and therefore you will still feel like you are hungry that is only normal, until you brain gets used to it.

Well I hope this a helpful start.

Much Love💕

This post makes me want to get back on the smoothie wagon. Very informative and the smoothie recipes sound sooo yummy. You are off to a great start. My only critique is that throughout your post where the word should probably be “my” you have “by”. I don’t know if this is intentional but I think not. Great job

Hi Angee,

Lifestyle changes and fasting for 24 hours made my weight loss possible. I did start with intermittent fasting to ease my way into the 24 hours fast.
I haven’t tried smoothies very often and your post sheds light on how smoothies helped you in portion control. I will try a couple of your recipes & see how I progress from there.

Take care & keep the weight off.

Bob

The healthy shops or Green groceries that is where I get mine. Even in the normal local supermarket most of them now have the Healthy Isle. Just not sure if everything in the shop is not healthy! Haha

Wow, these look yummy. Used to drink smoothies all the time and I think I want to get back into it, so your recipes seem like the perfect place to start, especially the chocolate one, thank you! It’s interesting what you said about smoothies being easier for your body to digest, I definitely struggle with bloating so this seems like it could really help. The smoothies with oats in- do you use them as a meal replacement?

Thank you for the pointer on the fact it takes time for your body to adjust- I struggle with feeling hungry afterward and so this probably wouldn’t have occurred to me. Lovely info, thanks so much!

Thank you for your kind words. Yes sometimes I have my smoothies as a main meal. I don’t want to say they are meal replacement, but I know what you mean.
