Crispy Teriyaki Tofu

Features:

Crisp Teriyaki Tofu is the ultimate recipe for tofu. I love tofu when it is crunchy on the outside which I cannot find when I go out so I decide to make this at home and it is very delicious.

Crispy Teriyaki Tofu is so delicious and easy to make. I made this a heathier version without sugar as it is traditionally made with lot of sweeteners. Teriyaki sauce is great for flavouring most foods and Tofu is no exception when it comes to this great sauce. I love the texture of firm tofu not really a fan of soft curd. This is the ultimate tofu dish made with my health homemade teriyaki sauce. I got introduced to tofu by my vegetarian husband. It is a curd made from soy beans. I do make it quite often and flavouring it enhances its flavour I find.

    Steps

    1
    Done

Combine all liquid ingredients, garlic and ginger and mix well together using a spoon or spatula. Marinate the tofu in a bowl using the liquid mix and refrigerate for 20 mins turning it after every 5 minutes.

    Done

After 20 mins drizzle some oil in a non stick sauce pan stir in the marinated tofu (leave some of the marinade liquid and add as needed as you cook) and continue stirring until it turns golden brown and set aside. The flavour is amazing (mild sweet) and savoury. Serve with brown rice and or steamed vegetables.
Tips: I used health sweeteners substituting sugar, using honey instead which has good nutrients . I also used coco aminos instead of soy sauce, it has great mild flavour and is so good for you. I also did not use cornflour as I am gluten sensitive. But it is fine to use Soy Sauce and brown sugar.  I also added molasses for the dark colour . molasses are extremely healthy and full of nutrients also a natural wholesome sweetener.
